Dr. Hilah Kaufman

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia providing a wide range of psychological services for children, adults, and families. I earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from George Washington University in 2012 and went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at the Child and Family Therapy Clinic at the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

I have extensive experience working with young children and families dealing with issues such as family conflict, trauma, anxiety/depression, and behavioral problems. Using an engaging and collaborative approach, I strive to see and treat the whole person while providing a warm and caring environment. I am particularly sensitive to the ethnic, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds of the individuals I work with.

My work at the practice involves conducting psychological and psycho-educational evaluations, often in collaboration with Dr. Carla Messenger, for individuals with a variety of concerns including social, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive difficulties. I also provide admissions testing to children as part of the application process for private and independent schools. My aim is to provide high-quality evidence-based assessments in order to help individuals identify strengths as well as challenges. In addition to my clinical work, I enjoy teaching and providing supervision to clinical psychology graduate students.
